FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer a warranty on the plants you sell?

Yes, we do offer a warranty.  This is our warranty:

Plant material is guaranteed for one (1) growing season.  Defective plant material will be replaced once, provided:

1)  Proper care and watering has been given.

2)  Payment has been received in a timely manner.

3)  Defective plant material is returned with the sales receipt.

What if I need to return a plant that didn't survive?

The plant needs to be returned with the sales receipt.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and checks.  To control our costs, we do not accept payment by debit card or credit card.  This can add as much as 5 percent to the cost of our products, so we pass this savings on to you.

We do offer a 30 day same as cash option, which gives you the ability to pick up your plants today, and take 30 days to pay the balance .  We also offer payment plans for balances carried in excess of 30 days.  Please call us for more details.

What growing (hardiness)zone am I in?

The growing (hardiness) zone is based on annual minimum winter temperatures.  In 2012 the U.S. Department of Agriculture changed the growing (hardiness) zone map.  Using this map as a guidleine will help you choose which plants will thrive at a specific location.  The lower the number, the lower (colder) the expected winter temperatures.  It is used only as a guide, as each location can have variables which influence plant performance, (such as location near water, whether you're in a valley or on a hill, if you're protedted by a grove of trees, etc...).

Growing ZonesThe growing zone map to the left is the U.S. Department of Agricultures zoning prior to 2012.  The lower the number, the colder the climate.  Using this zone map is a conservative way to choose plants.

2012 Hardiness MapThe growing zone map to the left is the U.S. Department of Agricultures zoning starting in 2012.  The lower the number, the colder the climate.  Notice that the growing zones have moved north, meaning warmer annual winter temperatures.

Do you perform landscape installation?

We do not perform planting, landscape installation, or tree trimming.  We do have a list of individuals and companies we have worked with who we will refer you to.  We trust these referrals as we have first hand experience in working with them and have received positive feedback from our customers.

Is your nursery licensed?

Yes we are licensed.  The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) requires all nurseries in the state to be licensed.  We are a licensed as a retail grower.

What is a retail grower?

The State of Minnesota requires all nurseries licensed as retail growers to produce more than 50% of the plant material at their nursery.

What is inspected by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) inspectors?

All plant material offered for sale as well as all plant material being grown in our fields for future sale is inspected.  An MDA inspector performs a comprehensive evaluation of our plant material for overall health, suitability for sale, diseases, and pests.  Should the inspector detect any problems, they will detail for us the steps that we need to take in each instance.  We are very proud to consistently receive high marks for the quality of our nursery stock, as well as the condition of our nursery.

What training do your employees receive?

Many of our employees are avid gardeners, who have gained much experience through their own gardening efforts.  In addition to that experience, all of our employees work side by side with the owners, essentially being mentored in an informal apprenticeship.
